MALAKOFF

The French freighter Malakoff, 110 meters long and 15 meters wide, sank on January 2, 1929, off the southwestern coast of Menorca. The depth is between 30 and 39 meters and is suitable only for experienced and qualified divers

The imposing cargo is lying on a sandy bottom between 36 and 39 meters, with the bow running north-north-west. Storms and looting leave us the main structure of the gigantic hull, but at the same time, the years spent on the seabed have created an artificial reef where the inhabitants of the sea have built their homes. In fact, numerous ravines are dens where marine life finds refuge. Covered with sponges and corals, it has become an artificial reef where large groupers, schools of barracudas, moray eels, gnats, triggerfish, scorpionfish and colorful nudibranchs live. And watch out for the blue .. often reserve pleasant surprises!!

CUEVA DEL PONT D’EN GIL

One of the best dives in the Balearics, unmissable, a unique experience. It is a cave more than 200 meters long, easy to access. Impressive stalactites and stalagmites can be seen. Inside the cave you can see small shrimps, hermit hermit crabs, scorpion fish, ravens and sometimes, a large European conger.

Fantastic dive, for experienced divers but easy to access. Often the conditions allow you to stay for a bit on the surface in order to admire the imposing stalactites in the large rooms. Not to be missed!!

BAHIA DEL PONT D’EN GIL

It is a spectacular place … above the surface, the fantastic bay is adorned with the very famous Pont d’en Gill. Underwater the rock formations, ravines alternate with a background of posidonia and sand that usually have a lot of marine life.

PUNTA NA GALL

Just 5 minutes by boat from Cala Galdana. 18 meters maximum depth. The dive starts from 6/7 meters and goes down to the sandy bottom at 17 meters. At the end of the dive we enter an incredible cave on one side and going up in a vertical tunnel we go out on the opposite side. Wooow

ESCULL DE GOVERNADOR

The rocky islet is outside Es Talaier, from the surface you can admire the gigantic impact of the bow of the Malakoff, a cargo ship sunk a few hundred meters offshore.

The islet accessible by boat creates a channel of a few meters deep with the coast. The dive can be conducted by exploring the islet from 17 meters to 7 meters deep and leaving the exploration of the channel to make the safety stop. It is possible spot groupers, moray eels, barracudas, nudibranchs, scorpion fish, octopuses, snappers, amberjacks, rays, torpedoes and triggerfish can be admired especially in the low season.

OCEAN DIVER

The wreck of this large Dutch river barge, 23 meters long and 5 meters wide, lies 1250 meters from Son Bou beach in 27 meters of water and stands between sand and posidonia.

It was sunk by the Spanish coast guard after it remained for several years in the port of Mahon, after being abandoned by its owners. The wreck is in good condition and is easily visible from the surface. It is covered with marine life: colorful flabellines and cratens, groupers, corvine, moray eels and large scorpion fish

CALA EN FORCAT – EL SUBMARINO

This dive has a maximum depth of 22.5 meters. It can be done from a boat or from the coast. The main highlight is a rock that emerges from the bottom to a depth of 12 meters and a length of 50 meters. From the south face it looks like the bow of a nuclear submarine, giving the site its name.

QUESO SUIZO

On the north coast of Menorca, in Arenal d’en Castell, at the bottom of the Cala Morts cliff, you will find a large submerged rock to explore. The play of light on the rock is very interesting.

It is possible to spot moray eels and octopuses in the crevices, schools of barracudas, groupers, octopuses. Common rays and plaice in the sands in front of the rock. Rich bay of Bonelia Viridis. Access from the rocks to the bay is challenging but the particularity of the dive and the cave will repay the efforts with a show of lights and passages and small unique underwater tunnels. The name of this dive is not a coincidence, very funny!

BARBADA DE CALA GALDANA

A submerged canyon located off Cala Galdana facing south. The bottom of the canyon closest to the coast at a depth of 35 meters. At the base you will find many cavities which are a refuge for many sea creatures and a mysterious anchor which normally has large scorpion fish as its residents.

CAP D’ARTRUTX

The dive begins in the beautiful bay in the presence of the Cap d’Artrutx lighthouse, continues heading towards the tip of the cape and along the wall, we reach a depth of 17/18 meters. On the way back we can visit some caves with fun passages between the rocks.

The bay is characterized by crystal clear waters, passing the tip of the promontory it is possible to meet current that almost transports us into a drift dive. The caves and some passages that connect the westside with the south side of the promontory are curious. Usually we spot barracudas, snappers, groupers, scorpionfish and schools of amberjacks (especially in September / October). In the low season, you have the opportunity to meet large rays.

CUEVA DE LA LUZ

Boat dive, very easy, good for refresh and photographers, the dive features many swim-throughs with a climb into a beautiful cave / air chamber, with light filtering in from outside

Located just outside Cala Galdana turning east, easy to access. The beam of light that enters the cave in the afternoon and from which the dive takes its name is very fascinating. Torch recommended. You can meet groupers, octopuses, moray eels, scorpion fish, barracudas, saleps and you can meet colonies of nudibranchs (in particular Felimare Tricolor).

CUEVAS DE MACARELLA

5 minutes by boat from Cala Galdana, it is an easy dive, perfect for diving courses, max depth 12 meters. Just five meters away you can spot the Macarella caves with a small air chamber.

Perfect for spotting early-season stingrays, torpedos, barracudas. Here you can also spot a school of ravens, especially in the caves.

ESCULL DE TORTUGA

In the famous Caribbean waters of southern Menorca, the site is located between Cala Macarella and Cala Turqueta. It owes its name to the shape of a rock a few meters from the surface that imitates the head of a turtle emerging from its shell. Simple dive perfect for beginners and students.

Perfect for spotting groupers, scorpionfish, octopuses, moray eels. In the low season there is a school of barracudas and it is possible to meet the beautiful Mediterranean Cassiopeia (fried egg jellyfish).

ES TUNEL

We enter from the shore at Cales Piques and descend to the sandy bottom with Posidonia to later dive parallel to the coast until the tunnel entrance, which we cross.

The waters of this area reach a fabulous clarity, rich in marine life especially in the low season. It’s a spot rich in groupers, barracudas, octopuses, large ravens, nudibranchs and scorpionfish. Various breeds can also be seen at the beginning of the season

CALA MORELL

This is a great dive done from shore. Next to the coast, there is a shallow sandy area where you can get deeper little by little. Swim with the coast to your left and you will arrive at some caves.

Entrance from the fantastic beach of Cala Galdana, a special site for baptisms, easy scuba update and night dives. The benches of posidonia are a nursery for numerous marine life

The 3 natural submerged arches visible at a depth of only 5 meters are enchanting. We can spot cuttlefish, salpe, barracuda, octopus and small groupers are often encountered. In some periods of the year, some species of rays can be seen.
